American Tactical Imports (ATI) showed off their AR-15 shotgun chambered in .410 gauge a few years back, well they’re finally coming out. I was walking through ATI’s booth to go fondle their MP-40 replica chambered in 9mm when I stumbled on the Omni Hybrid .410 shotgun. The new shotgun uses ATI’s OMNI Hybrid Mil-Spec, multi-caliber, polymer and metal lower receiver. The lower also uses a standard AR-15 6 position stock. The upper has a 2.5? chamber and an 18.5? barrel, 13? free float rail with Key MoD slots and a full length Picatinny rail up top. The Omni Hybrid .410 will include a 5 round magazine but a 15 round mag will also be available. The mags also have round count holes along the side. ATI claims their new Omni Hybrid .410 is compatible with most bird shot, buck shot and slugs on the market. I got to play around with it a bit and it’s pretty light, they didn’t have an exact weight but according to their prototype from a few years back they claimed it was only 6.5lbs.

AR-15 pistol is a classification that exists due to some silly American gun laws and definitions. An AR pistol cannot have a stock, but can have a bare and exposed buffer tube. Another no-no is a vertical grip, but an angled grip like the Magpul AFG is legal. Now of course nobody wants to run afoul of the Federal Government, so it’s imperative that you understand what makes an SBR an SBR, and what makes AR pistols legal. It may appear to be complicated and obfuscated but the defining characteristics are pretty straight forward if you know what you’re looking for. AR-15 pistols can have barrels as short as you want them to. Personally, I own an AR-15 pistol with a 7.5-inch barrel and, while it is ridiculous, it’s a lot of fun. Over the last few years, the popularity of AR-15 pistols has grown significantly. This growth is mostly tied to the advent of stabilizing braces. Stabilizing braces turned a gaudy, heavy, and awkward gun into a stable, comfortable-to-shoot weapon. Why Would I Want One? We won’t dive too deep into the NFA, but the section that concerns this article is the law that rifles must have 16-inch barrels, or else they are regulated under the NFA. So, if you wanted an AR-15 with a 7.5-inch barrel, you’d have to pay a tax stamp, ask for permission, and wait for 3 to 6 months for approval. Once approved you could then own an SBR. Or you could just buy an AR pistol and skip all that. There are a lot of other reasons you might want an AR pistol, besides just the tax stamp.

It’s a hoot to shoot for sure and maybe more so than my SP5 (just maybe). So trying out a few options and started farkling out the PDW. Starting out with the following: Rear Drum (thx to @ Indreams84) Magpul forend/handguard HS1 finger light (green laser). Had to dremel out a hole for HS1 laser to poke/emitt through. Worked out great. JMAC Brace 8” raised arm bar 1913 SigMech folder Cheekweld affixed to top of brace (holes are predrilled and threaded) Gearworks Tailhook MOD1C Also saw the B&T retractable stock at LGS as another option that I’m going to ponder on: Per the measurements it seems that when retracted with MAGPUL forend/handguard appears to be issue. It would appear to be an unfavorable check rest but guess one can adjust and get used to it. It would appear the small end, would not seat great in shoulder/pec area, but again guess you can find a good area to pocket it into and get used to it quickly. Appears to retract really nice and seems compact and extends easily, and seems like great lockup with very minor up/down flex, hopefully minimal rubbing along body frame. so will also soon consider the Vertical grip and will need to pay it visit at the LGS soon again while pending the process. The JMAC Brace Pros: It’s a Brace and cheek hold is really comfortable and supportive. if you wanted to add an RMR/Optic it’s adjustable to slide up and down via the pic-rail and sig mech. I ended up cutting out the foam and was able to fit in it’s folded condition. It’s tight and although does fully seat, it closes and works out fine. Let’s see your SP5K-PDW Stock or Brace here in order to see the various options out there for the PDW.

The ARX160 is a modern assault rifle of Italian origin. Development started in the early 2000’s for the Italian “Soldado Futuro” future soldier program. Design The design is a departure from Beretta’s previous AR 70/90 in being gas operated by means of a short stroke gas piston. Internally the weapon is made out of metal with the furniture being all plastics. A four position folding stock is standard. The design is modular as barrels can be swapped, the caliber could be changed and Picatinny rails allow mounting of accessories and optics. Firepower The ARX160 fires the 5.56x45mm NATO round from 30 round STANAG magazines. It is capable of semi-automatic fire and fully automatic fire at a 700 round per minute cyclic rate of fire. It is possible to mount the GLX160 under-barrel grenade launcher. Users The ARX160 has been bought in limited quantities by several users. It has been chosen as part of the the Italian “Soldado Futuro” future soldier program and may be acquired in quantity. DPMS continues to provide you with quality firearms that you can trust for any popular shooting sports discipline. This particular Panther model features a set of forged aluminum upper and lower receivers which are standard throughout the industry as meeting the military specification. The crown jewel of this rifle is the 16? Lightweight FNC Melonite treated barrel. The Ferritic Nitrocarburizing is a hardening process which improves barrel performance over mil-spec chrome plating in terms of barrel longevity, corrosion resistance and accuracy. By diffusing carbon and nitrogen into the barrel steel rather than adding a layer of material (as is the case in traditional chrome plating) the LCAR barrel is more durable and corrosion resistant without negatively effecting accuracy.
