The Benelli M2 Field Rifled Slug Shotgun is the result of painstaking work at Benelli’s Research and Development Center and of Benelli’s extensive experience in precision engineering and technical know-how. The small number of components, an extremely simple operating principle, the innovativeness of the turning block bolt locking system and the cartridge feeding system (cut off), make the “Benelli” shotguns highly reliable and practical, easy to strip and upkeep to the extent that the shotguns can be considered the most modern, accurate, safe, fast and elegant shotguns available today. Benelli semi-automatic shotguns operate on the same basic principle of inertial operation with fixed barrel, utilizing the kinetic energy of gun recoil, which still today represents one of the most important and ingenious innovation of sporting weapon production. This system requires no outlet for gas operation nor barrel recoil, but operates by means of a spring freely interposed between locking head and bolt. As the gun recoils during firing, the breech bolt (inert) moves about 4 mm forward, thus compressing the spring. When this is fully compressed, it overcomes breech bolt inertia, thrusting it to the rear under residual pressure, permitting cartridge case extraction and reloading with the conventional system. Spring pressure is designed to delay the opening of the action, which occurs after the shot has left the barrel, and to compensate for the different pressures produced by cartridges of varying power, with no adjustment necessary. The fully automatic operation of this new shotgun eliminates the drawbacks of the barrel recoil system (barrel vibrations during firing needed to brake the system and regulate it when firing powerful ammunition etc.) and those of gas operated type (the need to clean gas outlets, loss of power due to acceleration of the shot charge and adverse effect on the longitudinal shape of the wad and possible malfunctions under adverse climatic conditions). The Benelli system is therefore modern and highly reliable. To this operating system has been added a revolving bolt head of simple and robust shape, which with only two locking lugs, closes the breech axially and perfectly, withstanding any pressure of the cartridge. The modern and revolutionary trigger action is carried out through a system of variable profile which allows the user to shoot precisely and without jerking in trigger pull. The pull action is carried out in a smoothly and controlled way, without trigger free pre-run or sudden relax after releasing the hammer, thus ensuring efficacy and safety of the whole system. Finally, the precise synchronization of the movement of the hammer double coupling teeth optimize the feeding system through a combined action with the cartridge drop lever and the stop notch. The cut-off feeding system operates by means of a special “cartridge drop lever”, the outer portion of which protrudes below the receiver and is thus easily reached by the trigger finger. Upon shooting, the hammer spring forces the cartridge drop lever upwards to disengage it from the carrier latch which, pulled by the carrier latch spring, rotates clockwise to allow a cartridge to exit from the magazine. As the cartridge falls into position on the carrier, it presses against the “cartridge drop lever” which rotates in the opposite direction to prevent a second cartridge from exiting. When the bolt is operated the carrier rises automatically to position the cartridge for introduction in the chamber. In the meantime, the hammer spring, which was compressed during cocking, has freed the cartridge drop lever to return to its rest position. In this way, the carrier latch holds the remaining cartridges in the magazine until the next shot is fired. The end of the cartridge drop lever which protrudes from the receiver is marked with a red point. When the red point is visible, the hammer is cocked and the gun is ready to fire; otherwise the hammer is not cocked. Thanks to this operation cartridges in the barrel chamber can be easily replaced manually. Browning A5 12 Ga. Full Choke Blonde Wood MFG: 1967. Modern upland field guns are well represented by the Sweet Sixteen Upland. This design makes the most of the increase in 16 gauge ammunition by combining it with a light chassis and beautifully finished wood. Its weight of slightly more than 6 pounds won't slow you down as you travel the distances in pursuit of roosters. When your friend used the phrase "Sweet Sixteen" in the not-too-distant past, you knew he was referring to a 16 gauge Browning Auto-5. The Sweet Sixteen models gained a devoted following among hunters, perhaps due to the smooth handling of these weapons, their light weight, or even just the way the name "Sweet Sixteen" sounds when said. "The Gentleman's Gauge" is the range between 16 and 18. For many hunters, the ideal ammo for the ideal firearm is 16 gauge. A well-built 16 gauge is closer to a 20 gauge in weight, has shot payload more like to a 12 gauge, and has patterning that outperforms both of them. Like its most revered predecessor, the Browning A5 16 gauge is built on a smaller, lighter receiver for reduced weight and a sleek feel in your hands. To maximize the performance of this renowned gauge, it also takes advantage of Total Barrel Dynamics and the Invector-DS choke tube technology. The humpback receiver profile lengthens the viewing plane to provide you with the same benefit that the original Auto 5s were renowned for. With a short-recoil controlled action that is so dependable we back it with a 5 year/100,000 round guarantee, the Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen is well on its way to becoming a modern classic. Kinetic energy, to put it simply, is the energy of motion. With its potent, quickly operated Kinematic Drive System, the Browning A5 makes better use of kinetic energy. Utilizing recoil energy, Kinematic Drive creates the mechanical motion required to move the action. The business that pioneered the use of autoloading shotguns has now refined this tried-and-true idea. The simplicity of design for Kinematic Drive's consistent, dependable performance with a wide range of weights and under the harshest conditions of weather, temperature, moisture, and filth is its most appealing feature. This weapon is built to function in every situation. Because gases are discharged through the barrel and away from the action, operation is clean.
Pick up a Model 101 Deluxe Field, feel and admire the balance, design, and beauty of it, and then add it to your collection. Whether you take to the field for pheasants, chukar, and doves, or you prefer to turn clays into orange dust, you'll take deep satisfaction in how beautifully it handles as well as how it catches your eye when you pull it out of its case. There is something about the simplicity of a field gun that makes it irresistible. When an over and under shotgun is distilled to its core design, it's readily apparent if it's a superb realization of artistic design and engineering, or just another gun. The Model 101 is unquestionably the former. The Deluxe Field model subtly accentuates the beauty of its design with gorgeous Grade III European walnut in the stock and forearm, and detailed engraving on the sides of the steel receiver. The receiver and barrels have been richly blued as befits a classic style field gun. The visually understated Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad offers comfortable shouldering with excellent recoil reduction. This CZ Upland Ultralight over/under won’t break your back or the bank! Weighing in at just 6lbs, it is a full 2lbs. lighter than similar steel-framed models, making it one of the lightest in its class. Available in both 26? and 28? models, this gun is ideal for long days in the field. The metal is coated with a non-reflective, weather-resistant matte finish and the stock is sport-styled. The Upland Ultralight operates with clockwork precision and consistency due to CNC-cut aluminum alloy frame, allowing the inner mechanical parts to work flawlessly. On the exterior the most noticeable differing characteristic is the lack of a mid-rib between the barrels. Adding a bit of character to the workhorse bird gun, the Upland Ultralight Green gets a splash of color in its anodized green receiver.
